By WVUA 23 News Reporter Madison Brainerd Discount retailer Dirt Cheap, which has a location on Skyland Boulevard across from the Walmart Supercenter in Tuscaloosa, has filed for bankruptcy and will be closing all its locations.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WTVA) — Popular discount store Dirt Cheap is going out of business. The chain’s parent company filed for bankruptcy and all locations will hold store closing sales, according to court filings. WTVA visited the store in Amory on Monday morning, Oct. 14 and saw a sign advertising the store’s closure.

Dirt Cheap is closing all of its locations, including two in Pensacola. The discount store has locations all across the south, but only has the two Pensacola locations in Florida. It’s parent company, Channel Control Merchants, filed for bankruptcy earlier this week.

Dirt Cheap has 9 stores in Louisiana, according to the company website, including stores in Lafayette, Slidell, Hammond, Amite, Bogalusa, Houma, Bossier City, Monroe and Franklinton. A Zachary store recently closed. According to Facebook, going-out-of-business sales have started at all Dirt Cheap stores.
