The Stars’ new backup goalie Casey DeSmith will get his first action of the season Sunday night when the Stars take on the Kraken. Stars coach Pete DeBoer announced Saturday the plan was to start DeSmith on the second night of the home-opening back-to-back.

DALLAS -- Casey DeSmith made 25 saves in his debut for the Dallas Stars, who defeated the Seattle Kraken 2-0 at American Airlines Center on Sunday. DeSmith signed a three-year, $3 million contract ($1 million average annual value) with the Stars on July 1.
